Rev. Jane is a fully engaged minister in a way that we haven’t seen in many years. She is coordinating with the Care Committee, is proving an invaluable resource to the Board, and is helping guide the Small Group Ministry. She has also taught an adult RE class, “Articulating your UU Faith.” All of these things are relatively new in an executive at this institution and are going very well.

--Laura, Board President,  First Unitarian Society, Ithaca

"We did a memorial service for my deceased ex-husband at the Keene UU Church. Rev. Thickstun was the minister at this time. Her gentle way was helpful as we planned the ceremony. Her presence, words of caring, and organization brought healing and closure to our family and friends."  --Cheryl

"Jane's premarital counseling played a tremendous role in our marriage preparation. She helped us to think more deeply about ourselves as a couple, and to discuss marriage and all that it encompasses in a more honest and open way than we had before. Jane was also a fantastic wedding officiant, It was truly an honor to have had her preside over our wedding." --Ramon and Jennifer

"When my husband and I got married, we did not belong to a church, but we wanted to have a ceremony. Someone suggested calling the Unitarian church in our town, and that’s how we met Jane. From the minute we met her, we felt totally comfortable with her. She led us through pre-marital counseling—we were surprised to find out how much we really enjoyed the experience. Her welcoming, calm nature enabled us to be really open with her and each other. Jane was willing to travel an hour away to hold our ceremony in a log chapel in the woods. Maybe it isn’t this way for everyone, but for me, marrying my husband seemed like a very intimate, emotional moment. Even though we hadn’t known Jane long, it very much felt like she belonged there with all of our friends and family. Our ceremony was beautiful—her words were perfect. Best of all, we are about to celebrate our 12th anniversary!" --Lynn
